my dad and I share a 61 acre farm, 45 acres of which is open and another 16 acres of woods. our 1997 JD 345 has almost 2000 hours on it and is starting to show its age and while our NH T2310 is relatively new, I want to trade it on something bigger. I've been telling my dad about the 1 series since before they were released, he was sorta  until he saw a commercial and said hey that's a pretty neat little machine  so I am 99% sure I have him sold on a 1026R. we have 5 acres of lawn/gardens to maintain and a 40 acre field which we have been leasing to a rather sloppy local farmer. the T2310 is used for moving snow, dirt, landscaping, pulling a 6' brush hog, 7' landscape rake, 45 gallon sprayer, 5' tiller and small potato equipment. we are looking to get out of potatoes because they are a pain to grow and expand into row crops or alfalfa in the coming years. I am thinking we could shift most of the responsibilities of the T2310 to the 1026R except for brush hogging and snow removal, and have a more serious farm tractor in the 5075E for 40 acres of corn or alfalfa. I'd like to start a hay business soon and I think this would be the perfect machine.

I have a legitimate need for 4 things:

more power: the T2310 can barely pull itself up a hill on our gently sloping property in high gear with no implements on the back
turbocharger: the T2310 is naturally aspirated and has a narrow power band which makes it hard to drive pulling a tiller or disc
more weight: I don't like having to lean to one side to keep the T2310 balanced when picking up something heavy with the FEL
more FEL capacity/higher reach: I have to borrow a skid steer to lift anything with any weight to it, and I'd like to be able to lift a bucket of firewood to the second floor of the house I am remodeling to supply a woodstove

I am thinking I could get into a 5075E for around $10-$12K if we get a good enough deal and good enough trade on the T2310, any reason not to? my intention is to make it weigh as much as possible with loaded tires and weights, will it pull a 12' disc or is 10' all the bigger it will handle? I'd really love a 5083E or 5085M but need money for hay equipment and the 5075E seems like a good way to start out. 1026R will make short work of mowing in the summer and we can spray and till with it using less fuel. I think I may have finally picked the perfect combination of machines after 2 years of debate.

Do you plan on putting a loader on the 5075e? On the disc are you talking about a finish harrow type disc or a heavy bog harrow type disc? My wife has an Amco F17 10 1/2' bog harrow that can make her 100+HP CaseIH 5140 know it's back there but her 14' CaseIH 475 finish disc can hardly be detected it back there.

The guys that put my hay up use a 2011 5075E (and a Kubota M6040). They pull a 7' disk mower and a John Deere 4X5 round baler. They really seem to like the tractor and had 196 hours on it when they were here for the first cut. They put up close to 300 rounds a year between all the properties they cut. I think the 5075E would work well for the hay you mention. It would be a real dream to have a 5075E and a 1026R!

a loader is a must, the NH has a loader but it doesn't have the lift capacity or reach that I need. need to reach a second floor deck with the bucket or pallet forks full of firewood.

I am looking for a John Deere 627 9'6 disc with 20" blades.

I am looking to go with a traditional haybine for now but I wonder if it would pull a 9' disc mower conditioner?

So if you mainly using the bigger tractor to move material and not dig then you might not necessarily need 4WD and that would save you a bunch of money. I had to look that disc up and the only ones I saw were pull-type. Weighted correctly you'd probably be fine with that combination, a lot of it depends on your soil type.

4wd is a must for snow removal, before the NH 2310 we had a 2wd Ford 7610 and I'll never own another 2wd utility tractor again, I got that thing stuck more times than I can count. I am a fan of older bigger heavier 2wd tractors like a 4020 or a big two cylinder diesel but not in something the size and weight of a 5 series. if the NH 2310 didn't have 4wd it would be useless, my B could probably drag it around even in 4wd.
