Can any of you experts clarify this something for me. I was doing a little research on the Yanmar engine in a JD2305 and a JD1026r. To be specific, it is a Yanmar 3TNV76. In the 2305 it is rated at 24.1hp. In the 1026r it is rated at 25.2. My question is in regards to something I noticed in the owners manual of each tractor. The 1026r says it can handle ULSD ONLY and in the manual of the 2305 it says it can handle either LSD or ULSD. I do not understand how the same engine, just rated at different HP, can call for different fuel in different owners manual.

On the Deere website under the 1026r it labels the engine as a "Powerful Interim Tier 4 (IT4)-compliant diesel engine." However, it does not state anything like this under the 2305. On the Yanmar site it says for the particular engine, "Engines are compliant with 2008 EPA Tier 3 and EU stage III A exhaust emissions regulations." Yanmar doesn't even show this engine as being Tier 4 compliant. Does any of that have something to do with it?

Signed,
Just trying to understand diesel engines!

Do you have one now?

I wouldn't be too surprised that all the different advertising slogans don't coordinate with one another. Deere is going to have a tough time putting out information in one media and then updating it in another, but not recalling (I'm from WI so am all too familiar with 'recall' :D ) all the previous info.

Sounds like it will burn both fuels, but maybe to comply with leftist CA rules they say only one. And then they don't want to cross over the EPA rediculous rules either.

So, good luck with the 'understand' part of the diesel engines. ;)

So in reality you can probably run either and not hurt the engine? More or less the verbage is just a sign of the times to satisfy the EPA and where the diesel fuel industry is headed. I am currently using LSD because that is what was delivered in my large storage tank last year. The fuel salesman said this year going forward everything will be ULSD. I just wanted to make sure I could still use this stuff in the newer tractors and not just the old farm equipment.

Unless you have some exhaust after treatment you can run what ever you want. It is only when they add exhaust treatments that you have to comply with the retarded regs.
