I've been seeing a little fluid leaking from around my joystick control the last few weeks, dripping down onto the floorboard underneath. My boot has also cracked, and yesterday I went by the dealer for a replacement boot and engine oil/filter.
This morning I removed the old boot to replace and thought I would tighten the hyd line connections underneath the valve to stop the leak. The leak doesn't seem to be coming from the line connections, but from around the steel plate over the face of the valve. This plate is fastened with screws requiring an allen wrench to tighten. I have no idea how this thing works...
Is the plate just a "cover" or does it have line pressure behind it? Am I going to have to remove the plate and tighten something, just tighten the plate, or replace the valve? It's not leaking a lot so I can use it for a while, but it's a mess to deal with.

Try tightening the plate first, if that doesn't work there is a o-ring behind it that will need changing.

I think I spoke too quick Jerry. Went back out to tighten the allen screws and after close inspection the fluid seems to be coming from the little hole in the cast housing at the upper left corner of this picture. The fluid is then dripping around the edge of the steel piece on front; that's why I first thought it was coming from behind it. The hole I'm speaking of is the small one, not the two larger that are easier to see above the steel plate. There's not a screw or anything visible in this hole.
Any ideas about the problem now? Thanks.

i dont know for sure but that looks like a weep hole. if so you would have a leak inside,,,like a seal or an o-ring. maybe they have a seal kit for those.

My thought was that I was approaching the end of my warranty period... so I took it in to the dealer. Come to find out, the tractor is warrantied for two years, but the loader for one. Anyhow, he tells me that it's probably just O-rings and they'll take care of it if that's all. You might know they were shorthanded in the shop and it has been there for a week but I picked it up today and no more leaks that I can detect.

I think that the dealer will more than likely be right about it being a o-ring. That is right about the loader having a one year warranty.
