I need help with a 1070 John Deere about 20 years old. At low rpm all the bucket functions work fine, when you bring the rpm up (above 1000) the curl function goes into a relief and all other functions work fine. If you bring the control lever in slow it will start to curl until you put the lever into full curl position and then it will go into relief again. The hydraulic control body has been replaced. The new control body came from John Deere and behaves the same as the old one......Looking for the next best way to spend some more money..

Sounds like the wrong valve to me...either to small or it's a CC (closed center) valve.

Pictures would be us...

If it was a closed center control valve it would go into relief when ever the tractor was running. It ONLY happens when you try to curl the bucket above 1000 rpm.

Did you try the curl function with the bucket disconnected. Is the cyl shaft bent?

Time to get some hyd. pressure measurements at the ports. See a test setup that kennyd has reported on in the past. Should help you track down what is happening.

And also would like to see more info. Curl up same as curl down?

swap hoses between lift and curl. see if you get the same results.

You've got a flow constriction somewhere in the system.

As soon as volume (GPM) increases with RPM - pressure builds until the system goes past the relief valve setting.

J J suggested the problem might be one of the curl cylinders - good place to start looking!! Sometimes a slight bend in a shaft can generate enough resistance to create higher pressure and failure to operate.

You might also consider the hoses on the cylinders or the hard lines from the valve body that was replaced. Could have trash (foreign body) in one of the lines.

beenthere also questioned any difference between curl up or curl down... if one way is no problem versus the other that "whines" from the get-go - that would be the first set of lines I'd check!

Let us know how you're doin'.
