1085 Massey Ferguson looses prime after 48 hrs. 1979 mod

My problem is: I have to prime the injector pump and bleed the injectors after it sits for two or three days. The tank is lower than the rest of the stuff. It's been this way for several years and I just joined this site and thought I would post this and get some ideas. I'm thinking the fuel pump might be leaking down but it would be expensive to guess. All the steel lines look good. I have not changed the filters latelyany ideas, please share

For sure put in new filters, but... I'll bet there are rubber/vinyl lines somewhere in the chain. Maybe joints at the filters, etc. They probably have developed cracks over the years and you are very likely getting tiny air leaks into your fuel lines. The symptoms fit.

Thank you JWR. I'll work in that filter area next. To my knowledge I don't see any rubber lines. I wish there was a working valve before the fuel pump. So much trial and error but I'll finally get it. This is an AWSOME old tractor. Tight from front t back air don't work so I just use an electric fan with an inverter. Again thank you

You might not find any length of rubber lines but still there may be joints between your steel line and filters, between the steel lines and pumops, & other things. Any of those rubber or synthetic material joints are potential culprits with tiny air leaks.
