Hi all,
I tried searching the forum for my answer and my manual is so generic it says to put 80 90 in my transmission (I have HST). Would it be ok to run 10w30 in a T394 during the winter months which will be 0 most of the time?

I would contact the dealer or TYM before "winging it". The only "advice" you have received is from someone who does not even use your tractor.

For your HST transmission/Hydraulic system, I would go with a Hydraulic oil AW Spec of 32-46 for cold temps in the snowbelt. For the Yanmar Engine I would use Rotella T6 5w40 for extreme cold environment if steady below 0F, or T6 T15-40 if you're fairing warmer than 0F weather. It will still have a pour point of -38.2F.

ENGINE API: CD/CE grades
Above: 25°(77°F)…SAE30 or 10W-30
0°C to 25°C(32°F to 77°F) SAE20 or 10W30
Below 0°C(32°F)…SAE 10W or 10W-30 4.3l(1.14 gal) This is from TYM lubrication chart for your T394 tractor with Yanmar 3 cyl diesel. Obviously a quality full synthetic 5W40 diesel rated oil would exceed these for year round use in my opinion.

I'd run 5w30 or 0w30 all year round. Right now, I've 5w30 Catrol from VW (for their TDIs) in both the JD and Isuzu.

Can get 0w30 M1 ESP online but often not less price than the 5w30 Castrol from VW. Hard to find 5w30 or 0w30 in most common outlets. Crazy.

That upper temp chart in the manuals does not make sense for water cooled engines. Has to be for air cooled engines. Have never found anyone in ASTM to find out why they post an upper temperature line. The upper temperature is set by your coolant thermostat.
