I looked for 10w30 diesel motor oil for a TYM tractor that I just got and was that an adventure. I could get over priced dino oil easy(around $20 a gal) or I could of got 15w40, At one dealer I did fine 10w30 synthetic unkown maker at close to $100.00(2 gal), So when I got home I ordered it Amsoil Diesel 10w30, Shipped to my home $84 + change(3 gal). Should have done it in the first place and save on gas and my time. I almost forgot; I live in SE Ohio

I get Shell Rotella 5W-40 syn for $17 a gallon almost anywhere! Less at Wally World.

Amsoil has a 10w/SAE30 diesel oil:

https://www.amsoil.com/storefront/acd.aspx?zo=1350363

The retail price is $26.15/gallon or Preferred Customer price is $20.45/gallon.

It has a far more robust additive package than any other 10w30 diesel oil. If you can find another oil in this API with a TBN 12 package, then let me know.

Good Luck!

How about a TBN of 15+. :) Pro-Spec III

Checked it out. They do claim a 15+ TBN. I didn't see the test results of the following....

I would like to see how they came out on the ATSM D-5800 Noack Volatility test. Since they are using a mineral base the high temp burn off of un-uniform molecures that will thicken viscosity might be a problem.

I would also like to see how they scored on the ASTM D-4172B Four Ball Wear Test. If you have a great TBN yet a larger wear scar on the metal, you will control the soot and acids but the equipment will wear out quicker.

My only concern was that Texas Refinery did not show the results of such testing in the specs. Amsoil had no problem showing test results. A scientist once said: "it is a case of half vast claims made with half vast data". You have to watch how you say that out loud in public. :)
