Have a new to us kioti DK55. Went to the local case dealer who is also a kioti dealer to get engine oil.

I've always changed the oil in my vehicles and quad etc. but the oils have always looked clearer, more of a honey colour. This stuff does look new, but just seems a lot darker. Even the Honda 10w40 we use in the quad is lighter despite being the same weight and viscosity.

Does diesel engine oil have heavier lubricants in it or something?

It's so you can see it on the dipstick easier after you first change it.

Yes - that is a good one. I've seen brand new engine oil ranging from as clear as olive oil to almost jet black. It all depends upon the base crude and additives. As long as the oil meets whatever rating Kioti requires - it will be good.
