11 year old tractor.

Just throwing this out to gage opinion. I bought an SC2450 new in 2009. It currently has less than 500 hours on it. For the last few years I have been working out of state while my daughter and her husband live in my house (small farm). If God is willing, I will retire in a little over a year. My plan is to go home again after many years of traveling for my work. I am looking for information from others to see where owners go for parts or service. When I bought it there were several dealers in a relatively close area. A few years after I bought it, not so much. There is one Yanmar dealer in the area and small tractors aren't his main items. Has anyone experienced problems in getting parts or service on the CC/Yanmar tractor? I am seriously considering trading to another brand but would also add that it has been a good tractor and for the most part trouble free. I am not set on trading but just considering that as an option.

Eleven in tractor years is almost a new tractor. If it was my tractor I'd probably continue using it. If something breaks you may have to order it or you may find it's a standard part common to other tractors as well. My Mitsubishi is probably forty years old or more. Sometimes I have to look a bit but thus far it's still going and it's a grey market tractor - never sold in the USA.

I agree with your assessment of the age of the tractor. Way back when I was a kid and started working on the farm, there were few farmers in that area that ever bought new tractors. I guess we didn't know any better back then and also certainly didn't have any money for luxuries like that. We just kept using the old tractors and thinking we knew what we were doing. The age doesn't concern me as much as the fact of having sort of an orphan tractor with no dealer support and a rapidly decreasing trade in value because of the lack of support. I'm not committed to buying a new one yet. Still just exploring options and looking for other points of view. I'm not sure if there has been significant enough changes in the ensuing years since I bought mine to use that as a good reason to trade. I will admit to really wanting a SSA bucket with a grapple and a rear remote for my blade.

Are you familiar with Hoyetractor.com? They have made the older Yanmars as easy to maintain as an old Jeep, VW, Mustang etc mostly by sourcing NAPA-quality replica parts where something is no longer available. Thanks to Hoye the 40 year old Yanmars are as well supported as the recent models. If there ever becomes a problem with supporting recent models I expect they will take up the slack.

Wow, much impressed. I follow this and few other forums and had never seen that site referenced previously. I am ending my day in the office checking it out. I will have to explore it further when I get out of here. Thank you California for the tip on the website.
