I had been having clutch issues with my tractor, like the clutch was not fully dissengaging. Tried to adjust it every which way...still after about an hour of pushing snow, the gears would clash, not too bad, but bad enough that I was planning to split the tractor this spring and replace the clutch.
So, yesterday I am pushing snow ( we got 17 inches overnight) and I hit a rock!!! Hard!!! tractor stops dead, wheels spin, tractor goes again, rough ride!! I push in the clutch and think to myself "that does not feel right..." but, upon putting it in reverse..no gear clash...I push snow for another 20 minutes, and no clash.....took it out again (more snow...) ran it for 2 hours...no clash....It had to be the old yanmar rusted clutch issue and the rock must been enough to break it loose!! life is good again, and now I always block the clutch pedal down when ever I park it.
I hope anyone else having clutch issues first considers if the clutch is rusted....I would have never thought that this was my problem...happy it was and it fixed itself. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif
