1244 FEL grease fittings

I have a 1230 with a 1244 FEL. Some of the grease fittings have the hex head for removing and replacing. Others have a round head. Not sure if they are pressed-in or threaded. Anyway, some are not accepting grease. Anyone know how to remove and replace them with the hex head fittings?

The round headed ones are press / drive in. There are some that will not take grease because the shaft that needs the grease is sitting on the zerk hole. If you move the loader so that the pressure from the shaft is on the other side of the hole, then they will normally take grease. If you want to replace the drive in zerks with screw in zerks, you will have to take the zerk out and then tap the hole to the correct thread for the zerk that you want to install. I would just replace them with the same type that they have now if they won't take grease by moving the shaft.

I ran into that same problem last week with my disc harrow zerks, they were pressed in and a few would not take grease. The solution was a few seconds of heat from a propane torch, that did the trick on all of the stuck fittings. If you do this, don't over heat the bushing, just 5-10 seconds should do it.
