1250 not starting?

okay guys i went out today to start and move/run my uncles massey 1250 and it will not start. It is doing nothing no clicking,trying to turn nothing, you can here the relays for the glow plugs doing there job but the tractor will not start. Any suggestions? it is in neutral,pto off,no hydro load,etc and still nothing, i know i got to get a manual for it but any help would be appricated.

Chips, I had a similar situation a few weeks ago. I could hear the solenoid, but nothing else. After testing seat and pto safety switches, hydro load, etc., was running out of options. Felt (literally) starter relay and it seemed to be working; I could feel the clicks. But still couldn't get the darn thing going. Dealer, in frustration, suggested checking for good connections on starter. Just before doing that, for grins really, I jiggled the starter relay. It fired right up...

Check two switches by using a by pass wire. One under the seat and other on the hydro pedal.

On my 1020, I’ve had a similar problem. Sometimes, flicking the switch rapidly will get it to take. I am quite sure that it is a safety switch for PTO or high med low range shifter. Have tried cleaning before but never helped. It's so bad now that I have to hold the key on and at the same time rap on the starter with hammer to get it to engage. What's happening is it getting enough current to almost engage but not enough to pull the starter solenoid all the way in to engage the starter it’s self. Very frustrating. Next time I tear into it I am going to bypass switches altogether. I’m not all in favor of all this “safety” stuff any way.
Fortunately my tractor is old enough that I don’t have a seat safety switch too!!!

sucsess! it was the pto safety switch, I jumped the wires and wala it started, got a new switch on order and also had the dealer order up a maunel on it to

Update installed the new switch today and everything is working great even the pto shaft is turnming so that answered my other thread about the pto shaft.
