I was wondering if anyone has changed to the R4 tires on there 1250. I have a 4X4 with the turf tires and was thinking about upgrading to the R4's. I have not been able to find any that are the same size as the tires I am running, and with the 4X4 I will need to keep the rotating diameters the same as they are now, any help would be great.

Thanks rackoholic.

Actually I don't believe you need to keep the rotating diameters the same as your turf tires.

BUT you do need to keep the front "lead factor" the same - or very close. That involves front & rear rolling circumferences and gear ratios. So - If you increas rear rolling circumference by xx% you should be OK if you also increase front by the same xx%.

Thanks Fredex, but wouldn't your rolling circumference be the same as my rotating diameter?

I think your 1250 was replaced by 1433 model(size,hp,etc.). The R4 Ind. tire used for the rear on the 1433 was a 15 x 19.5 tire. Not sure the size of the front tire, but maybe someone here on the forum may have a 1433 with R4 tires & be able to help.

I guess either way I'm looking at replacing wheel and tires all the way around. That could get very pricey.

The least expensive way to change the type of tires other than a salvage yard is to get your tractor dealer to order them though Whole Goods. The only draw back ordering them that way is that you would have to wait until a shipment of new tractors came in to get them.

Is there a manufacturer that makes the R4 tires in the same size as the Bridgestone's that are on mine. I think they are 380D 20. I have only been able to find either the AG tire or the turf tire.

I scanned my 1260 operator Instruction Book
maybe this info can help it also covers the 1240 and 1250

LUBRICATION & MAINTENANCE -59
WHEELS & TIRES
Examine wheels and tires periodically for correct inflation pressures, tight wheel bolts, and any physical dam age that may be a detriment to Tractor operation and operator safety. Correct condition prior to Tractor op eration.
Tire Inflation Pressures
FIG. 108: Maintaining correct tire pressure will help insure tire long life. If tires have deep scratches, cuts or punctures, the respective tire should be repaired or replaced by qualified personnel as soon as possible.
IMPORTANT: If necessary to replace any tire(s), en sure original tire size is used. This i par ticularly true on 4-WD models to ensure correct amount of front axle overspeed (or lead”) is maintained.
Wheel Bolt Torque
FIG. 109: Periodically check all wheel bolt torques. Correct bolt torques:
Front Wheel Bolts, 1 75 ft.-lbs. (102 N.m)
Rear Wheel Bolts, 2 120 ft.-lbs. (163 N.m)
Rear Wheel Center 1 20 ft.-lbs. (1 63 N.m)
to Rim Bolts, 3 (Ag. Tires Only)
a CAUTION: Correct wheel bolt torque must be maintained. Installation of front or mid-mounted implements (ex; loaders, mowers) impose in creased loads and require frequent checking of wheel bolts.
Front Wheel Alignment
FIG. 110: Correct “toe-in” dimensions of front wheels (A minus B) are as follows:
2-WD 0.08 to 0.16” (2-4 mm)
4-WD 0.08 to 0.24” (2-6 mm)
To adjust, loosen lock nuts, 1, and adjust tie rod length by turning turnbuckles, 2. Adjust each side evenly. Ball joints must move freely after lock nuts are tightened.
NO TE: Measure toe-in from tire center to tire center at a point haffway up on face of each tire.

If you go to the Firestone(Bridgestone) website, & go under tires > agricultural > tirefinder > tiresize > 12.5 x 20. This is an R4 that might work on your current wheel size.
Its overall width is 12.7", overall diameter 40.0", & rolling circumference 121".
