Got a new 1250 about a month ago. Has 30 hrs. on it now. I've had three other small displacement diesels, all started almost instantly and idled smoothly. The 1250 spits out enough smoke to fill my shop a couple of times (2000 sq. ft.) and idles real rough for about a minute or so then runs fine. Any other 1200 series owners have the same symptoms? It does not mater how long the glo plugs are used and the weather has been warm.

I just got mine a couple weeks ago and have the same problem, runs great after it warms up for a minute or so and the smoke goes away. I was wondering if it was an injector problem

I thought mine had a problem too when I first bought it. If you let the glow plugs heat for about 20 seconds it helps a lot.

Pull the hand throttle down about 1/3 to 1/2 way, then use the glow plugs 20-30 seconds. As the engine speeds up and smooths out, decrease the hand throttle. If the glow plugs are in good shape, it should start and run fine doing it this way.
