1260 MF - Rear wheel want pull

I have a 1996 1260 MF compact tractor 4x4. The rear wheels will not pull. I can engage the 4 wheel drive a the front wheels will pull. PTO works as well. Transmission works fine in all gears forward and reverse. I jacked one side up and you can spin the wheel while it is in gear, if I engage the differential lock you cannot spin the wheel, this is the same for both sides. A friend told me that there is a coupling in the transmission that is designed to shear under pressure.
I need help.

I looked in the AGCO parts book at the transmission for the 1260. There is a coupler on the main shaft. From the picture, it looks like a hole in the coupler/gear. I assume it is held in place like the one on my 180, with a large cotter pin.

Could be the pin sheared, dropped out from not being spread enough, or simply not put in at the factory,(Monday or Friday tractor..??) and allowed to disengage itself...

Unless you have possibly snapped an axle internally, and allowing it to power out on the broken axle side.

I looked at the brakes too. Being they appear to work off the bull pinion shaft, determining if it is a broken axle may be as easy as putting it in gear, then holding down on one brake pedal at a time. IF an axle is broken, applying the brake on the broken axle side, should make it power out to the other side.

You didn't say what you were doing when this happened... Normal operation..?? Stuck/spinning..??

OOPS..., Went back and read about the diff. lock... If you have a way to remove the trans top cover, I'd take a look at the coupler....

Sorry, I have been off line a few days but thanks for your help. You don't have a way of showing me the schematic of the transmission. Or where I can get one.
