Is baler twine or wire tie? When I worked at MF dealer years ago we sold several 124 twine balers, very good machine. Worked best with plastic twine. Knotter has very few moving parts, spring loaded billhook sometimes needed attention if internal spring didn't hold twine right. First time I saw one at service school didn't look like knotter had enough parts to tie a bale, no pull off arm like 3, 9, 10, and 12 balers had. Billhook makes 1 turn, twine cam 1/2 turn, bale pulls knot from billhook as it leaves chamber. MF claimed it used less twine per bale also with shorter knot. Plunger rollers are louder but hold better knife alignment at plunger. If working correctly will keep 2 guys busy on wagon with no thrower. One farmer we sold one to did a lot of custom baling, always had 2 on wagon. One time had a guy said he never saw a baler he couldn't keep up with but never saw a 124 work before either. He changed his tune when stacking 1st bale, turned around and 2 were at front of wagon already. When field was raked with double winrows and baler kept full 124 could really push out the bales.
