Found this tractor in a shed yesterday, model 128, got it running and checked everything. My question is what is the spring tensioner for the mower drive belt supposed to be? Also, my brakes don't work very well at all, they're disc type, but the pads are wearing off fast, did they ever stop good?? Can i still get parts for them at CaseIH??

The cub cadets you buy new today are complete ****, all because MTD now owns them. SO an MTD dealer didn't know what the hell a 128 was!

Those disks will stop that 128 when working right. The 128 brakes, with new pads and adjusted correctly, will lock those tires up solid, no problem. In fact (going from memory, it's been 20 years since we had our 128) the adjustment procedure in the owner's manual was to get moving at a good clip and stomp the brakes to make sure that both wheels slide equally. I used to do this on our gravel drive from 3rd gear, full throttle - and even with tire chains on our turfs I could lock 'em and leave nice gouges in the drive.
