Hello all! I am on my 2nd TC series tractor in 3 years, and have again noticed a ton of slop in my bucket! My TC-26DA has a 12LA loader just like my 24 did, they both started out tight, and within 50 Hrs. you can stand in front of the tractor, and move the bucket up and down with your hands 3/4 to 1 inch! It's quite easy to see they used the factory powder coating as a tolerance here... when it's brand new no slop, now 1 inch of play! The dealer has looked it over, and said it seams excessive, but the pins and everything else checks out within standards? I'm meeting with a New Holland Rep on Tue. To see what they say, but I wanted to see if any one else has this sort of problem, and if you think this is normal

Thanks

Brian

Sounds normal to me. A little clearance at the pivot pins translates to quite a bit of movement at the cutting edge given the geometry and distances involved. After all, there are 5 pivot pins on each side of the bucket not counting the boom pivots and its cylinders. Each of them interface with two or more bushings or bosses. If they were at zero tolerance, seizing and galling would be nearly immediate. A little grease every so often helps fill the gaps.

Oh I grease the heck out of the thing! but why would the clearences change from new to now? Because they counted the powder coating as a tolerance! They say the pins, and what not are within spec. but what were they from the dealer?? I understand a bit of slop is needed... but when riding on the tractor all you here is bang ....bang...bang when you hit bumps becasue of this....

Also pretty much normal. Your tractor has no suspension.

Chico, what part has powder coating on the wear surfaces? I can't figure why you have said this twice?

I think any new loader is going to get broken in and have some slop. My loader sure does, and it also makes banging noise when I go over bumps because the bucket bounces up and down. If I were making a case for a loose loader, I would compare my tractor to other tractors of the same kind. I'm not saying you don't have a case for a warranty claim, I'm just saying you have to have exact measurements and be able to show wear other than to say it is too loose. It's a tough tolerance to prove as bad.

I'd also say thats well within spec. CNH uses a "4-bar" linkage that gives really good roll back, but adds more places where a little bit of play ends up being more visible at the bucket.

Normal on mine as well. DX33 with 100 hours and lots of loud bangs on rough ground.

Brian,
Rick is right on. What you have is normal for any brand of loader from all manufactures. As the loader wears in, the parts become loose. The four link as said will increase the amount of slop but is a very nice thing to have. It would be nice to have roller bearing in these locations, but it would cost much more. Just use a good high quality grease at the recommended internals and the slop won't increase any more to speak of for a very long time.
BTW, Welcome to TBN.

I'm at 700 hrs. on my TC24D w/ the 12LA. It is a little bit looser than new, but not anything drastic. I will get some banging if the loader is empty and I go across some rough ground at a good clip. I think what your describing sounds like what mine does.

344 hours, same slop. Keep it greased and use it!

My 756C backhoe was tight for the first 50 or so hours and now it has some play in it as well.

I'd say that everything you describe is completely normal, good luck!
