12v hydraulic control valves

I have a chance to buy two 12v hydraulic valves. He said the # on them is FPS 4014370.P1 .Can anyone help me on these numbers. He said that one didn't have a sharp sounding snap when energized. Gummy?? They have been sitting for a lot of years inside and said the oil inside them looked clean. The Hydraulic shop couldn't help me on the numbers!

But something new with documentation...there are to many variable with valves to risk buying something that you have no data on.

I am to a point where I do not buy anything used anymore because I always seem to get short end of deal, at least with new, items are (probably) current and I have (usually) recourse with seller or manufacturer....

Wow.....that concept is FAR TOO RICH for me!
Just for fun, I was looking at dealer pricing for a new L47 TLB with gadgets comparable to the 250 hour orig. owner L48 TLB that I bought 11 months ago.
The L47 TLB is essentially identical to my (now14 year old) 2006 L48, though mine has NO pollution crap, and will dig one ft. deeper.

Comparable new price (with gadgets) for the L47 is $65,000. I paid $32,000 for my 250 hour one owner machine.
It needed a new seat (done), and one rear tire has a very slow leak (It will be fixed).
I have resprayed the wheels and fenders, and done some other paint touch up.
If $65,000 had been my only option, I would still have my 49 year old Ford 3400 TLB.

I will ALWAYS be patient, and buy quality used equipment/cars/trucks, when and where I can find same.
In nearly 50 years of owning tractors, I have never needed a dealer, and I only buy STUFF with cash!!
I will NEVER have DEF, or frustrate myself with "regen" issues.
I am not even remotely interested in being a near neighbor to any dealer.

Was not referring to "Big" stuff"....

ITs like I bought a used item for $200, and then spent another $200 to get it working properly ...But new I could have bought it for $379........It's that sort of thing that rankles me..... Also the remark "it ran when I parked it", I just walk away from....

Looks like a single input, dual port electrically operated solenoid valve.

I would say, yes gummy. Most devices of the sort are packaged in oil paper, like ball bearings, to prevent rust, and are lubricated at time of manufacture. Oil and grease dry out over time and the lube could get gummy, needing a solvent to loosen them up. My limited experience with high pressure, electrically operated solenoids is that they are like the starting solenoid in your tractor....off or on...zero flow or max in milliseconds......and with that, fluid "hammer" (like "water hammer" in a home when the washing machine fill solenoid shuts off) has to be controlled somehow in large piping systems when closing off the valve and a large mass of fluid is in motion with built up kinetic energy.

Thanks for your input. Yes that pic looks like it. I since have gotten the valves with the understanding of pay me something if you can make them work if not just get rid of them. On the valve it says Ambac Fluid Power Wheeling Ill. Of course the # FPS 4014370.P1 is stamped in. That company appeared to be around in the 80"s but can't find out any more info. would really like to see some specs if possible!!

FPS stands for Fluid Power Sales, they were part of United Technologies in Wheeling, IL. At some time they were acquired by Parker-Hannifin. If you search for “Fluid Power Sales” unfortunately you will get hits for the many hydraulic distributors with the same name. The valve pictured looks like their “mini-pak “ or “multi-pack” series. I do not know if Parker continued to manufacture the line after acquisition or not. You could search their mobile hydraulics division located in Lincolnshire, IL
