12x16 Garden Shed Base

I built a 12 x 16 several years ago. I scraped off the sod, placed 16 foot 4x4's on the edges and 3 of them down the middle spaced about 3 feet apart and nailed 3/4 inch plywood to them. The only draw back is all the animals that like to burrow under there and live. And then the dog comes along and tries to dig them out. My next shed will be built on a concrete slab.

Yea I have the same problem with critters living under my shed. Concrete slab next for me also...

Since he wants it removable, a concrete floor is out. Every portable shed I've seen has at least two 4x4 PT runners so it can be skidded up on a trailer or rollback. Seems like 2x6 PT floor joists are the norm with 1/2 plywood decking.

I find it pretty difficult to get concrete blocks set at the right height and then they settle. They could be filled with concrete to help stop the settling or I could use solid cap blocks, but I think a wood support would be easier to get level.

I have a site that slopes about 18" from front to back. I'm thinking about running a one 2x8 PT girder set on 4x4 posts roughly 3-4' on center down the middle and on each side on the long part of the building. Then I plan to slide my portable building (14' x 20') on that. Then I will have reduced my unsupported span because it will be supported in the middle.

Any thoughts out there on this plan?
