1300d steering replaced

i have had my tractor for ten years.i live on the side of a mountain here in the great smokies.i have 22 acres of which only one acre is suitible for tractors.and even it is almost exactly the shape and slope of your average house.so last year i was plowing up the roof as i call it.sometimes small clouds float across while you are working never mind them thunder storms which sneak up on me and i dont notice till the hair on my noggin stands on end just before the first strike!! the upside is that you can see for miles in any direction think the opening scene of the movie last of the mohicans which i made $22000 in thre months building stuff for the sets and fixing thier guns but i degress.any way i got the front wheel down in the furrow and when i tryed to turn the wheel to come out of the furrow at the end of the round it didnt want to turn i was turning up hill which made it worse and being a extremly strong man i put to much pressure and the thing striped the gears!! much cussing ensued. so i checked to see what a steering box parts etc would cost not good and i thought if i replace it the same thing could happen again so i decided to put a more robust steering box on the tractor went down to my local wrecking yard and got a box from a eighties toyota truck to put on so i had to weld up abracet and have got that done and am now in the proess of remaking the steering arm and ill have to shorten up the steering rod that goes down to the axle.the va is going to send out a feller to show me how to post pictures on the web oh did i mention that i am legally blind?i thought the sargent said stand up but what he said was shut up!! any way the va sent me to thier blind rehab school in agusta ga and they give me this computer and showed me how to get on the internet so you can blame the va for setting me on the world wide web!! your friend truckwilkins

Welcome Truckwilkins. I'm from the Mtns. of WV. And know were the V.A hospital is in Augusta. I live in Ga. now and spent alot of time next door at MCG. Looked right at it for Wks. everytime I was able to get up and look out the window :confused2:
Things are not easily assesable up in WV. either and you do what it takes. There's nothing wrong with a upgrade to prevent it from happening again :thumbsup:
