Morning All,
I have found a 1300D for sale locally, that inlcudes a 42" tiller.
The owner is asking 2300.00 for it. The tiller tines are about 50-80%, it has no headlights. The owner says he has less than 1 tank of diesel through it in the last 3 years. He says it runs good, although the rear axle seeps fluid. he also added a block heater for winter starts.

The price i am okay with, but i have been reading about parts for the 1300D, mainly the front gears, being hard to get.

I am really looking for a narrow tractor to fit down my 5' vineyard rows. mainly for tilling, pulling a sprayer cart, a rear blade, plus i would like to add a koyker 80 loader for moving pruinings to the dunp truck and clearing some dirt/rocks.

Again all in small spaces.

So should i pass on this one, and try for a 1400 series, or am i being overly caution on parts. Does the price allow some room for repairs and still be a good deal?

thanks abunch
hoping to soon be a yanmar owner
Jesse

Front gears seem to be a hard find for all of these tractors. I know that some of them (my tractor included) are impossible. Check the axle. How full is the case? Is the oil clean? Any signs of seepage? If it passes all of these criteria, it's proably OK. It's hard to tell for sure with out actually tearing it appart though. You'll like the tractor. It seems to fit your needs and size for size, you'll find nothing better.

The gears for the 1300D 4wd unit are actually almost all readily available now. Just in the last few months. Parts for it are much easier than many of the other models.

You could go all the way to a 1600 and still have a narrow tractor, is 4 wd needed for what you're doing? If not, then buy a 2wd and the front gears won't be a concern..............

I'd talk 'em down. maybe offer 1900. settle on something inbetween. have you tried the tractor? Checked for leaks besides the axle, etc.? As you've said, the head lites are missing... what else? Also, keep in mind, if you buy this tractor, it might be out of service for awhile while you perform your fixes/maintenance. Is that acceptable at that price? good luck, -art

If it's in great mechanical condition, then yes, that's a fair price. If there is anything mechanically wrong with the tractor, then the value falls off fast.
