My engine is occasionally smoking and not firing right when it first starts or idles. It isn't a really hard miss like a non firing injector, just not as smooth as the normal purr. It's not consistent but seems to be happening more often. I'm thinking a partially clogged or clogging injector.

It smokes a lot and isn't firing smoothly, as it normally does. But, in a few moments like maybe 45 it clears right up. Higher RPM clears it up, it runs more smoothly and everything seems fine. Maybe some Power service in the tank?

I recently had them out when reconditioning the head. I don稚 know if this was a problem before the rebuild because it was getting water in the center cylinder so it pitched a fit anyway. I was extremely careful with them and kept the injectors sealed in baggies when on the bench. I even numbered them so I know they are back in the same jug.

you can try n additive but make sure you have adequate, air free, fuel delivery to the injector pump first. If that's OK, try to determine which injector is suspect and have it tested.

For a cheap try, I'd try running Seafoam through it. See if that helps. Then I'd put a strong dose (double the amount of normal rating) of some Power Service in the tank and give the tractor a hard workout. I'd be also looking inside the tank for algae and dirt and change the fuel filter, if it hasn't been recently changed.

Thanks, I gave it a double dose of Power Service. I've used that stuff in my Ford International Diesel for almost 200K miles without any fuel system issues.

The tractor seems to be working it's way to good health. I can tell some difference after 1/2 a tank. I haven't had the opportunity to use it much the past few weeks. The rain has kept me on the mowers. (Ick!) I'd rather be pushing dirt.

Glad PS is working for you.... keep using it until it all clears up plus an extra tank. She'll be squeaky clean by then. ;)

It's amazing how some magic liquid can do so much for a fuel injected system. My car starts acting up and a bottle of STP or the like fuel treatment cures it almost immediately.

It seems like in the old carburetor days, that crap didn't do anything. The only cure was to pull the carb, vat and kit it. Then you were good for another couple of years. I guess we can thank unleaded fuel for fixing most of that.
