Oil & Fuel 135 oil leak?

I bought a property that included a 1968 135 diesel. I don't particularly enjoy equipment maintenance, probably because I have not had much training. My 135 has many leaks, mostly in the fuel system, which I intend to try and correct.... at some point. But a new leak has occurred which concerns me as my engine oil level has dropped, for the first time in 3 years. I located it on the right side of the engine, below where the tach cable is attached and no, my tach is not attached to the alternator. There is a small round hole, looks like a screw hole. Went through 40 pages of posts looking for this problem and didn't find any reference. Ideas?

If you remove the 3 bolts and slide the tach drive housing out,there is a small cased seal MF part 636762 M1. I replaced the one on mine, dryed the leak right up.

Thanks Georgiaboy, Is there supposed to be a hole in the plate, like a weep hole?

Yes,there is also a paper gasket between tach housing and engine block.

Thanks again Georgia Boy. I pan to go to the local MF dealer (just down the street) tomorrow and pick that up. Supposed to be in the low 50s so it wont be too cold to replace the gasket.

That's quite an alarming leak when it starts, isn't it?

My neighbour replaced the seal and fixed the injector pump leak at the same time by making a gasket and clamping it on. It was an impressive bit of work from my p.o.v. The nice thing about old Masseys is that any reasonably adept mechanic can fix them, and the parts are available and quite cheap.
