JD X749; Ferris IS3000z Zero Turn 61"
I just purchased a used X749 a couple of weeks ago. I'm trying to properly connect the 14 bushel 3 bag mcs collection system. Here is what I know. The bagging system was previously on a JD 2305. As you may or may not know, the bagging system is held in place differently on that series tractor as compared to the 700 series. A draw bar is used as part of the holding assembly and the frame appears to be heavier at those connection points (I'm using the operators manuals, OMLVU24925 F1 and OMLVU18333 C6) as reference. Can any one help by directing me to the correct way of attaching this bagging system? There is an operators manual for the bagging system for the X749 (OMM147540) but I hate to buy it and find out it doesn't have the info I need. I do have a JD cat 1 3pt hitch w/pto in place on my X749 already. Thanks in advance for your help

Can you post some pics of what you have to work with? I think there is a cargo mounting bracket that you may need but I am not sure if it is compatible with the 3ph.

I'm not sure if I know how to down load pics. It's late let me give it a whirl tomorrow.
Thanks for your reply.

I think the x-series uses the click n go mount. you may need some parts from that version to connect that way. I also wonder if you can use the same setup as the 1-series on the 3ph? Probably need a different deck adapter at the very least. I have an old craftsman vacuum that I plan to mount on a 3ph carry all on my X739.

Thanks for your reply Gittyup. I have had several replies from this site and from gtt (****************) and I'm appreciative for all responses. Because this is a forum and this is a special thread concerning bagging systems for the X749 I will give as much as what I've learned to this point in hopes of helping others in the future. I have two operators manuals for John Deere compact utility tractors. One is OMLVU18333 C6 (2006 COPYRIGHT) and the other is OMLVU24925 F1 (2011 COPYRIGHT). These both have specific information for 2210 and 2305 (and other series) tractors the 14 bushel rear bagger will attach to. This system could be used for the X749 (the bagging system I currently have is off of a 2305) but the frame on the 2305 is beefier underneath the pto drive, more so than what is on the X749. I have found on the greenpartstore a manual just for the X700 series (it may be used for others, I'm not sure). The manual # is OMM147540. I have reached out for help to several different forums and forum members with my search for the correct hookup and I am thankful for their support and directions. I'm thankful also for Darryl Beard (greenpartstore) for his help and Randy Lang (James Bryce, LLC) (I hope I'm getting all these names and titles correct, sorry if I'm not). Some of the help I've received is from the online material I've been able to research on greenpartstore's website with their parts lookup pages of information. It's taken some time but it keeps narrowing down the selection process. Again, thanks to all. I'll do my best to support your forum and its members.

You can see a picture of how this bagger mounts with the parts list and part numbers on the JD website under parts. I have a 3 bag bagger on my 749 and there is a special bracket that mounts the bag support bracket to the frame of the tractor. I don't think there is any way to mount it to the 3point hitch.

I converted the 14 bushel MCS system that I had first on my X595, followed by my X748, to my 1026r. I was simply a matter of drilling holes in the frame for the category 1 pins and then welding a bracket for the three point hitch top link. The whole unit ends up about a foot further to the rear of the tractor but so far I haven't noticed a problem with needing additional weight on the front of the tractor. About the only issue with a three point hitch mount, instead of the hard mount on the X tractors, is that you have to adjust the left side of three point hitch to offset the additional weight of the fan/engine assembly that extends out on the right side. Its not a big deal and it only take about a minute to adjust. But so far it has worked just fine.

Thank you for your input. I happened to see a video of a JD X748 pulling a cart. It was hooked up to what I believe was a quick hitch which was attached to a 3pt. hitch. With everyone's input up till now I'm starting to see there are several different ways of attaching - not just "Deere's" way. I did look further on the greenpartstore website and found how to look up parts differently than what I had be searching. I think now I have enough ammunition to go to my local JD dealer and speak from a point of understanding. Isn't owning a tractor fun? Thanks for everyone's input and help up to this point. Once I have everything complete I will "learn" how to take some pictures and post them to this thread.
