I was driving some backroads today and found a Yanmar 140D for sale on the side of the road in Lunen burg, MA. It was a nice looking YM140 with 786 hours on the meter. Had a YFL-575 front loader, Custom Products ROPS kit, roof and windshield, turf tires, rear wheel weights, and 3pt arms. They were asking $7,200.

I hadn't seen a 140D before, only the later 147D. I don't see many US Yanmars out in the open so it is always a treat to check them out. I had seen a YM187D in super shape with ROPS and a rear mower last month but sadly it was not for sale.

I don't think I've ever seen a YM140D....was that the gear drive version of the YM147D powershift?
That YFL575 loader was a neat one.
I also see the US Yanmars being priced higher than the grays.

You're right roger scotty. The 140D is identical to the 147D right down to the shipping weight(1124#) except that it is gear driven.Had to look it up in a service manual to make sure. I have a 147D with the 575 loader and could'nt be more pleased. I paid $6500 a couple of years ago. Think of it this way----you can't buy a large garden tractor(and it's 2 wheel drive) with loader for what you're paying for this. Deal with the guy you might luck out.

Well I promised my tractor that I won't be replacing him....so I'm not in the market for a 140D, but only because I already have a YM165D with a loader. Someone ought to take a look.. The YM140D tractor is very similar to mine, but the 575 loader is more like a larger tractor loader than the older type on my little tractor.

I want to say it was gear drive but to be honest I must admit I was in a rush, after an already long day, and did not specifically notice. I do not recall a dash mount shift or the tranny mounted shuttle with that large shifter plate so I think it was a gear shifter.

The 575 loader looked very similar to my larger YFL-650 loader in construction. Quick detach, same ram setup (smaller of course), etc.

I need my 186D tractor loader backhoe for what I use it for so I'll pass on this 140D but I thought I'd spread the word seeing how it was a nice one and seems to have quite a few nice accessories.
