Hi Guys-Just picked up 6 overgrown acres behind my place. I have the finish mower which works pretty well, but now I'm needing a brush hog type of mower. Reading the problems ya'll are having with the broken stop bolts, poor blades, and cheap pneumatic front tires that roll right of the rim the first time you use them(finish mower tires did the same thing!). Would you still buy the rough cut mower? Basically how well did it work in heavy brush/vines etc.

Also I'm getting the trencher. Would you spend the extra money for the extra wide 6" kit? Mostly I'm running 3/4-1" water lines all over the place. We are on a septic system, so I have to keep that in mind if the lines ever needs expansion or replaced.

On my Minihoe I'm most likely adding the Bro-Tech thumb. PT one looks a little light to me.

Thanks

I would buy the rough cut mower again, but my usage isn't as heavy as yours...mostly cutting tall grass, some small brush.... and a lot of rocks.... they grow every year in my pasture... the first mow of the year has me decapitating about half a dozen or more....

As far as the trencher goes, I just bought it, with the 6 kit. I didn't need 6", but I am sure some time in the future I might, and shipping from PT tends to be a deal killer on small orders. $170 for a complete set of the 6" teeth seemed to be a no-brainer ($240 for the 1430 version). When I buy from PT, I tend to buy a lot to save money by combining shipping.

Congrats on the extra acreage.

I have the larger 6' brush cutter, and it works just fine. Yes, I have broken bolts, yes the sheaves wear.
The newer ones have solid tires, or at least mine does. Never rolled one off a rim.
I keep extra sheaves, and bolts on hand and bolt extractors.
But you can mow pretty much anything down, on most slopes.

I have the six inch trencher, and I use it occasionally. I think it is worth the price. I wish that they made a rock version with TiC or WC tips.

All the best,

Peter
