I'm going to change my timing belt on my 1430 Deutz F2L 1011F this weekend. I have the replacement belt/pins/tension gauge/5 side safety torx bit and have watched all the YouTube Deutz belt change video's. But one thing I forgot about is the hood being in the way, since my 1430 is at my weekend place. I cannot go out and see what's involved in removal of the hood/cover. If I recall correctly there are two hydraulic hoses that go thru welded loops on each side of the hood, near each hinge. And these lead to the cooler/fan on the bottom of the hood.

My question is how easy is it to remove the hood to gain access? Can you easily disconnect the lines from the cooler/fan so you can unbolt the hood hinges and move the hood out of the way? How are the lines connected? Need to bled system after disconnecting/reconnecting hoses?

Thanks for any tips.

On my 1445, I set up some saw horses to one side and tipped the cover toward the left, leaving the hoses intact. To do that, unbolt the hinges and the hood "strap". I opened it up. Propped it up on the back. Then undid the strap, and then undid the hinge and slid the hood out of the way.

I hope that helps.

All the best, Peter

On my 1845, I replaced the belt without removing the hood. There was plenty of room. On my 425, I've laid the hood on it's side as Peter mentions (for another project). So, you have a couple options.

I just suspended mine from a gantry and so I did not have to disconnect any fittings. It can be done without removing it but the easy access is nice to have.

I put blocks behind mine. Raised the lid. Undid the bolts and slid it back onto the cribbing. A few of us have done this so here to help. Hardest part is taking the belt cover off. Second hardest is lining up the pinholes.

Update-replacement went well. Wasn't too bad of a job, only hard part was getting a good read on the tension gauge. Pretty tight area to find a place for the gauge to hook up to. Also my pins slid right in, no issue there.
Thanks everyone for the help.

Excellent! I'm glad that it was straightforward for you!

And thanks for the tip on the seals.
