I'm buying my first tractor, and found a local one for sale. It is a 2003 1433 4wd with front end loader, 5' bush hog, and box blade. It has 430 hours. Seems to be in excellent condition. He is asking 12,000, but says he is willing to negotiate. That price sounds too good to be true. Should I be suspicious, or just buy it and smile all the way home? I'm not sure if it is the 1433 or 1433v. Is the only difference the transmission? Anyone have any opinions, good or bad, about this tractor? Thanks in advance for your replies.

rsigillito, Hi and welcome to TBN .. WOW a 1433 for 12,000 w/FEL and 5' Bushog plus box blade. Whether 1433v or 1433 it sounds like a deal to me.

If you go for a test drive and ask him what's the best deal he'll give ,I would take that deal , /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Assuming the tractor is in excellent working condition.

The 1433 has a few more bells and whistles like a tilt wheel and deck guards ,hi-beam lights, maybe a different seat? I'm not real sure of all the options,Cause I have a 1433v and it has a nice adjustable seat and hi-beam lights, signals ,8x8 shuttle .... But for the price I could live with-out bells and whistles /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif. If its what you need and you like it , Buy it or I will own two of them /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

OH almost forgot after your purchase, we need pics as proof and a right of passage to become one of the brotherhood /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

If it is a couple of years old these will be some of the differences between the V and non-V (or Deluxe version) The non-V's for that year had folding ROPS, shuttle tranny, Power shuttle or hydro, clear mud shields on the front of the platform, deluxe seat, tilt wheel, rubber floor mates, a hand crank on the three point instead of a turn buckle and extendable lower links on the lift arms which the Vs didn't have. Another thing, that does seem to be a good price.

Jerry, I really never found out all the differences of the two, But this might be a case of dealer satisfaction , Because my V has a floor mat and a foldable ROPS, But I did tell the dealer that I needed a foldable ROPS to fit it in the garage,so maybe he was just being accomodating because the price had already been negotiated, I've got to say He really is a nice gentleman who goes the extra mile too satisfy the customer..

When I was answering this post I was thinking or hoping you would respond because I was sure you would know the answers... /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif Thanks

If it is a later model it will have a folding ROPS standard, but wouldn't have a floor mat. Sounds like you may have a winning dealer. When or if a major problem rears its ugly face, a good dealer is worth their weight in gold.

I'm going to test drive it today. Its not at a dealer, but is a private seller. Any advice on things that I need to watch out for?
thanks!

Actually, I don't know of any defects that would need to be looked for on this model. Let us know how it goes.

Boy, that sounds like a really good price! Around here that tractor would be sold on the first call, pretty hard to find any used tractors at all in these parts. Unless there is a major mechanical problem it sounds too good to be true. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Ok, I ended up not buying the 1433. I will probably regret it, but I bought a Jinma Chinese tractor (20hp 2 cyl diesel 4wd with 300 hours) with a full set of implements (4' rotary cutter, box blade, post hole auger, dirt scoop, grader blade, rotary tiller, middle buster plow, and forks) for $3000. It was too good to pass up. I just hope it holds up. If anyone is interested in the 1433, it is still for sale just down the road. I will be happy to pass on the seller's contact info, just email me and I'll get it to you. Thanks for your help and comments.
