I have run into a problem with the hydraulics on my 1500d. I used the tractor this past weekend to clear snow and everything worked fine. When I was finished I parked the tractor in my unheated garage (his winter home) for a few days and now the 3-pt will not work.. PTO works and it does move forward and reverse.
To start, I thought the oil was just cold (outside was single digits and neg. wind chill here in Buffalo) and would need some time to warmup. So I let the tractor idle for about and hour. (pto engaged, hoping to warm the oil quicker). No luck.
oh yea, no pump squeal or odd noise when moving the lever and also played with the 3-pt lower rate lever under the seat (just incase that was moved).
Next, I checked the hyd. oil level and the level was fine but the oil was milky and thick. From there I changed the oil. I realize know I probably should have cleaned the screen when I had the oil out. I cleaned the screen about 75hrs ago so didn't think it could be plugged. Let the tractor run again for about 1 hr and still no luck.
So how can somthing like this work when parked and days later not work? How can I check to see if the pump is pumping? I find it hard to grasp if something happened to the pump when I started it..Is there something somewhere that could be just froze up? I tried again today (heat wave - temps in the 20's) and still no luck..
This is the first problem I have had with the tractor in the 4 years I have owned it. Never had winter (or summer) problems before... Any help would be great.
