I was in 4WD while doing some sand loading, and 4wd quit. Lever just flops? Where do I begin? I've had it a month and a half - bought it "refurbished" from greymarket dealer. No warantee. /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif
Will your dealer stand behind it, if so take it back to him. If not your not dealing with a big problem it's most likely a bent fork of broken spring just inside the tranny housing. I don't have my books close buy but there ain't much to the lever that's floppin' around on you but, the tractor will have to be busted in half to fix it.
Opps....just reread your post...no warantee, ever bust a tractor in half?
I replaced the detent ball and spring on my 186D 4WD shifter without splitting the tractor. The 1510D should be very similar as it is almost the spitting image of the 186D. The detent is a little ball that holds the lever in place, just like the detent on the square drive of a ratchet holds a socket. By your description of flopping around, it sounds as if you may have a similar problem or a sheared pin where the lever connects to the engagement shaft (easy to fix-replace roll pin). Does the 4WD work when you hold the lever in the forward position?

I fixed mine on a 226D. I had to drain the trans to pull the gear box off but it was a eazy fix. I hear some you just slide the parts out. If I can do it anyone can.
