I am a new tractor owner and have purchased a Yanmar1510D. I still need to purchase a manual but do have one that is specific to a Yanmar226. My question is the transmission fill - I am unable to locate a dipstick and it is my understanding that the system uses the same oil for the transmission and hydraulic system. There is a fill behind the seat but no dipstick. Could this be the fill for the system and if so how much do I fill it without overfilling the system. Any help would be great - Thanks.

They hid the dipstick so that it does not appear like a dipstick. It is between the left fender and the PTO housing. I will include a picture to help you find it.

If you need to add oil follow the same specs as what is in manual for the 226. I have actually switched and now use Dextron ATF. It works much better in the winter and the same in the summer.

While you are checking things you probably ought to clean the filter for the hyd also. It is located by your left leg as you sit on the tractor. It is a cover with 4 bolts. Take the bolts out and carefully and evenly pry it out of the housing. Some oil will come out too.Behind the cover is the screen which you can pull straight out. I enclosed a picture of the screen too. There should not be any holes or tears in the screen. Wash it, clean the inside area and reinstall everything. Tighten the bolts evenly and not too tight. It is easy to break an ear on this aluminum cover.

NOTE the position of the cover and the orientation of the tab on the end of the filter screen when you take it out. The cover pushes against this tab to hold the filter in place.

I am always happy to learn of another 1510 owner here on the forum. If you search for 1510 you will find many posts that may help you in the future. Welcome to TBN.

You can get manuals from any of the dealers that post here on the forum. I get some parts from LMTC. He has manuals and a aftermarket parts catalog.

Mike

I changed my fluid back in the summer and just judging by what was left in the 5 gallon conainer it will take somewhere around 3 gallons.
