- Mahindra 1526 tlb, Satoh Beaver S370D
I finished this a while back and realized I didn't share my project with anyone. So if anyone is interested I'll do a quick run down.
I have a 1526 TLB and wanted rear remotes for TNT and I wanted 3rd function for a grapple, but I wanted to do it as cheap as I could. The kits available for the third function alone were close to a grand and that's all you got from it was 3rd function... I wanted it all and for as little as possible.
I purchased a 4 bank electrical valve set from summit hydraulics. I also got a 3 set electrical switch box and one loader controler set up with electrical buttons ( for open/close grapple). This was a universal kit so I had to make all my brackets and shorten or extend electrical wires. The electrical switches take up almost no space compared with a manual valve set that I really didn't have room for.
I used my backhoe hydraulics to feed the 4 valve bank ( I obviously only need those when the hoe is on and don't need other functions when the hoe is in use ) I have one valve set running top link, one for side link, one to run 3rd function and a spare set not currently used. The only down fall with my set up is I don't have a set that is continuous flow, but I don't have an implement that needs it at this time. I guess I can't use the grapple with the backhoe, but I usually need the bucket at that time, so no real loss there. The only failure I have had with the system is that the 3 switch panel does not function if it sets over night in below 15 degree Temps. I have to wrap a warm towel over them for a few minutes to get them working.
I have around $1500 in this set up including hoses, fittings and hose protector sleeve not included in the kit. ( I had the top link already). I have a bunch of fittings and adapters that I didn't use, but they were purchased, so counted in the total. The tractor has 3/8 hoses and fittings, the summit kit is all 1/2, so there are a fair number of adapters to come up with. I think I did 2 or 3 orders from surplus center and another from summit to get it all sorted out. I do have one long set of hoses to the front (tucked away under the tractor), but I sectioned them so I don't need to replace a 12 foot hose if I blow one on the third function. There are no hoses in the kit so I had to pick up a few standard lengths from tractor supply and had Napa make a few as well.
I didn't have everything I needed when I got started so it took my about 2 weeks to get all this done, but because i did not cut into any hydraulic lines the tractor stayed fully functional. I didn't get the right electrical cables from summit the first time , or even the second time, but customer service there is great and I got new cables in 2 days both times and free. If I had everything ready I could have don't it in a single day including fabricating the mounting brackets. I had never done hydraulic work before, other than replacing blown hoses.
I have been using the set up for six months or so and can say that the hydraulic top link alone was worth the cost, but the grapple is a great tool as well( althought not cheap). I didn't take build pics, but will answer questions if you have any.
