Picked up a non running 1530 with a 143 loader. Got it running and have a few issues I wanted opinions on.

1 Hydraulic pump making a lot of noise when not under load. If I turn the wheels or operate the loader noise goes away, but immediately comes back when not in use.

2 Thought fluid might be low since pump is noisy. Manual says to check it after running for a few minutes, on level ground, lift down. As soon as I unscrewed the dipstick oil comes pouring out, quite a bit actually. Was still coming out when I put dipstick back in. Not sure how someone could overfill it that much, or is the pump somehow pushing it out?

3 Have an injector line leaking. Took return line off (breaking tee in process, hence my temp hack job until new part comes in) to reach it better and is already tight. Loosened it to check for crack or dirt and didnt see anything. Put back to gether and still leaking. Comes up between line and collar. Just a drip every 3-5 seconds but adds up quick. Does the injector line have to be replaced or?

That's all for now. Any ideas?

JD 1530's are kinda unique as not as many of them were built as some other models. Sometimes on things that exhibit problems some people's 1st thoughts are "oil must be low" so they add oil without checking oi level. Also if tractor happen to be outside rainwater could enter hyd reservoir via cracked trans shift lever boots. Hyd oil should not be that dark so I recommend to change it ASAP. Tractor should not be operated for long periods of time with hyd oil above full mark on dipstick. Hyd pump noise could be worn drive coupler. Check to be sure coupler drive is tight on pump shaft & bushings(4 ea-AR49427) are good. If you decide to change the hyd oil that would be an excellent time to check trans oil screen(item 30). I have no idea what those hyd lines in 2nd photo represent as I think they've been added since tractor left Dubuque,Ia factory.

I am wondering if wrong trans/hyd oil was put in? Looks like motor oil.

Actually I believe it was made in Mannheim Germany.

Yes fluid is black, and glittery, which is never a good sign. Was stored in a field so water could have built up, but wouldnt it look more like a milkshake and less like black oil? Regardless going to drain and refill, or is a flush needed?

or is a flush needed?

I would for sure flush the system, at least once.. bad as that oil looks..

You'll know more when you drain it into a pan and can analyze what is there..

As well, when you see what is stuck to that screen..

Would it be ok to flush with regular hydraulic fluid then refill with correct fluid? Or does flush also need to be the good stuff?
