I wanted to get your over all opinion of this tractor. In my view we still have a ways to go on price, but until I looked at one this past week the thought never even entered my mind. I have been looking at JD 3320 and Kubota 3400 and a few others. The 1533 seems to be a larger tractor in both size and weight. I am thinking about the power shuttle tranny and a FEL. I would also appreciate you thoughts on the turbo for the extra 7 horses.

The 1533 is larger than the units you mentioned. The tractor is larger, loader lifts more and higher, more hydraulic flow, etc. The turbo does make a difference and gives a nice package at 40HP. JerryG has posted many times on here that he was glad he went with the 40HP turbo engine. Depends on what you want to do with it. If it were me and I was going to use the loader for serious work, I would get the 1540 12x12 Power Shuttle. If you want a tractor to mow with a 5' mower and use the loader for general use, I would get the 1533. I just like to have extra power.

It's a great machine. The 1533 is more in line with the Kubota L3130 and the 1540 compares favorably to the Kubota L3830. I think they are a bit more comfy than the Kubota's though. The loader control position on the fender is nice and I much prefer the seat on the Massey (It's simple and very Comfortable). I think I slighlty prefer the Kubota GST over the Power Shuttle, but I still think the Power shuttle is one nice transmisison. The Massey's offer a super tractor at a reasonable price.

Depending on your dealers, you'll find the 3400 to be less than the 1533, but like the others said, a better comparison is the 3130. When looking at the Grand L and the 1533, JD loses appeal. I'm still sitting on the fence, myself, deciding between the 3130 and the 1533, with a difference of about 500 bucks between them. (Actually, the dilema is more between me and my wallet.) The 3 point hitch on the Kubota is pretty darn stout.

Good luck with your decision. That joystick on the 1533 is in a pretty sweet spot.

The fit and finish on the 3320's is real nice. The cab models are super neat. If you're thinking a cab is in your future, you may want to research more to see which models can have one added later. Here, it would have been a 6k add for JD and a 4k add for the Kubota.

Bungee,

Did you price out the Massey cab as well?
