Mahindra eMax 25
Went to my local Mahindra dealer and looked at new Tractors. I'm moving up from my eMax 25 and looking for something around 40 HP. I looked at the 1538 and 2540,which are both in my price range, but can't decide between them. I've found some info online about the 1538, but can't find much on the 2540.

Has anybody had any experience with the 2540?

What is your opinion on the 1538?

Thanks for all your help!

I found out the 2540 is a TYM and the 1538 is a Mitsubishi, I think for that reason I'm going with 1538.

I think that's a good reason.

If you look at the capabilities, (specs) the 2540 is either equal to or better than the 1538. Dimensionally the 1538 is larger, but is not as strong of a tractor. Going gear or HST? Gear, for sure go with the 2540 with the 12x12 trans vs the 8x8 trans of the 1538. Only 1 rear remote available on the 1538 where as 2 are available on the 2540.

Don't put down the TYM built tractors, they actually can be pretty good machines. If I were looking at these 2, I would see about getting an actual TYM machine even though they do not have a 40hp machine. (35 or 46) TYM provides their tractors std with things that are either an option or not even available from Mahindra. Their T454 looks to be a VERY capable machine. ;)

One of the pluses of going Mahindra over TYM is the dealer network and is probably why you have not looked at TYM if indeed you have not.

All things to consider, oh, what are you seeing for prices on these machines if you don't mind me asking?

The 1538 is $23,000 with FEL and the 2540 is $24,300 with FEL. I haven't gotten to the real bargaining yet, these are the quoted prices.

I'll definitely want the tires loaded and will ask about a remote.

Be sure that you're setting down when they give you the remote cost. I am curious how much the rear remote is for each tractor. :confused3:

I put a rear remote on my 1538 at around $900.00 installed.

You know the 4550 is right there with the 2540 in price also.

I went to another dealer who had many different models that I could set on and play with. I was really leaning toward the 2540 until I set on it, with seat all the way it was very uncomfortable to access the pedals. I'm 6' 4" and go about 250# so I need some room. I went to the 3540 and it was the same, just not enough room. They had a 4540, I didn't care for it either. I got on a 1538 and it was good, I had room to move around and access the pedals. I know it doesn't have the HP of the others but you have to be comfortable operating it.

I've got 47 acres, of which 16 - 18 acres I'll be working. It has two roads that I have to keep up, both of them on steep hills. I have a lot of bush hogging to do, trees to cut up and move, and plow/disc for food plots. I think the 1538 will handle these well enough. At least that is what I'm trying to convince myself of now.

You have probably said why in the past, I just don't remember. Is there a particular reason that you seem to be stuck on getting a Mahindra?? There are lots of other manufacturers that are every bit as good in the same price range. You have been looking at a wide range of models, maybe you should be considering different manufacturers as well?

Only a suggestion from a current 2 Mahindra tractor owner. ;)
