I am looking to sell my 2009 1540 and am looking to upgrade to a used 1600 series in the 55 - 60hp range of about the same year model. I need a bit more lift capacity and a few more gears for yard work. My 1500 series is tier 3 indirect injection, can anyone tell me what the 1600 runs? Or what the interim means on these, what emissions were added? Direct inj or dpf ect? Thanks!

No one owns a 1600 series tractor that can tell me what emissions system it has??

Tractor emission systems varied by the year. I think tier 4 kicked in about 2014 but could be mistaken.

The 1500 was Tier 3. The 1600 was Tier 4i (interim), the 1700 and newer are Tier 4 Final (or just called Tier 4). The T4 emissions are stricter than the T4i emissions which are stricter than the T3 emissions. Massey was able to make the 1600 T4i compatible simply by adjusting the fuel injection timing on the mechanical injection pump. However, T4 emissions are too stringent for a mechanical injection pump to meet T4 emission regulations so the 1700 and newer series needed to go to a common rail fuel injection system. Hope that helps.
