Massey 1643
I have a new 1643 with 40 hours on it. I was moving some dirt with it yesterday afternoon and noticed that when I changed from forward to reverse(power shuttle) it would hesitate before it changed. Now all it will do is creep along. Doesn't matter if I am in low/medium/high or 1,2,3,4 gear. It will only creep along at the same speed. it will creep in reverse or forward but that is all it will do. Have any of you ever had this to happen? Got any ideas what it might be?

Thanks,

Are your brakes locked? Hydraulic pressure up?

Actually the clutch went out in it. I am looking at $1200 to $1500 on the light side to fix it. Plus I have to haul it 200 miles one way. Needless to say I have a bad taste for massey right now. I should have went orange I guess. LOL I sold a 12 year old Kubota that I never had a bit of problem out of to get the 1643.

No Warranty?

The way they are talking to me. I doubt the warranty is going to cover it or any part of it. They actually haven't even mentioned a warranty issue. I was told this was not typical and once they open it up they could tell if it was my fault or some other issue but they had never seen a clutch go out at 40 hours. So its probably going to be my fault. I am at the dealers mercy. I am debating right now as to whether I should bother with it or not. I am seriously considering letting agco have it back. I own a cabinet shop and its been my experience that when a new machine tears up that quickly its probably a lemon and I am probably going to spend a lot of time and money trying to keep it running.

If it's under warranty, make them cover it.

The Problem with this issue is you can't prove its not user error so your are at their mercy as to whether it is a warranty issue or misuse. Or at least that is the way I am understanding it.

You would have to mess up royal to fry a clutch, especially power shuttle clutch, in 40 hours.

Have you used it like a bulldozer in high gear till it stalls out?

It's gonna be on them to prove that the damage was caused by you. Magnusson Moss Act should apply.
