Hello I have a 165 desiel 68 model Is it possible that somebody could replace the multipower unit with a stanard unit Its a 6 speed The milti power lever on the dash is there along with the rod running down to the transmission But theres no place for it to hook up an theres no cooler lines coming out of the transmission Theres a cooler filter or something behind the grill in front of the radiator but its not hook up to any thing I would say cooler lines went to it (Thats not on my other 165 thats never seen the word multi power) It has Independent PTO if that matter

It also makes a wierd noise like to gear are striping when the clutch is push in about 1/8" or when going down hill but it doesn't realy effect the performance of the tractor or hasn't yet No free wheeling Thought it might be a throwout bearing But sounds more like its coming from the transmission

Thanks for anyhelp

That is weird. Sorry I can't offer any worthwhile advice.

The clutch symptoms seem like a throwout bearing to me.

It sounds like some one has changed the complete rear end and trans on that tractor or just trans or front end of the tractor,Guess you'll never really know unless you know the previous owner. As for the clutch noise these tractors have a spicer dual stage clutch in them.I've had some problems like this with a couple that I owned making a noise like your describing. There could be a problem with the clutch this is what happened to mine. There's three fingers that the throw out brg press on to release the clutch, the fingers are held in place to the pressure plate with round rods that are about 3/8" dia. now these rods are kept in place with a split pin driven thru the plate and into and thru one end of these rods. What happens is the split pin breaks and it lets the rods slowly slide out of the pressure plate and they start making contact with the inside of the bell housing which is pretty noisy [Now what I've done is drive the rods back in install new split pins and then put a spot of weld over the end of the rod to the pressure plate]Not a lot of weld just a spot weld.Solved that problem of them working out.Of course if you ever need to take it apart again just grind the weld off.As stated in the other reply it could be the throw out brg as well but how do you know unless you split the tractor and have a look.Just something else to think about and look at to try to fix your problem,I'am not saying that this is what your problem is but its a possibility. If there was problems with gears etc: it should make the noise even without pushing the clutch in so I suspect its clutch, pressure plate problems.Larry
