The 16LA FEL on my TC40D was working just fine last week. Now it will only lift about the height of the tractor hood. It does not matter if there is a load in the bucket and there is nothing blocking the FEL arms. Has anyone heard of or know what the problem is? Any suggestions or help would be appreciated.

My dealer always says to check the fluid levels and quick connects if there are no other obvious obstructions. Even if you haven't disconnected the hoses recently, sometimes they aren't seated all the way the first time and with the movement of the loader they pull loose. Maybe try disconnecting all the quick connects, make sure they are clean, and reconnect making sure they snap in place nice and tight. Hope this helps.

Mark, Brad's answer is exactly what I would tell you. It happened to me and I was devastated because I thought something had broken in one of my hydraulic lift cylinders. Just remove and reseat all your quick connect fittings going to your loader. If you look closely at them, you can probably see which one is loose. You'll be back to work with a smile on your face very quickly. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Thanks jinman & SacandagaBrad!

I was going to check everything (fluid levels and connections) once I had a few minutes. One of the quick connect fittings was the problem. Cleaned them all, disconnected and re-connected and working just fine.

Thanks again!

Glad you got it working. I need to look at mine, but I can't get my hands in there to disconnect the quick connects for inspection. I suppose I'll have to make a special tool to get in there, or remove the hold down clamps.

The best way to check the connections is to drop the kickstand, pull the pins, and back out a foot or two.

Have_blue, I'm the original "fat-fingered freak," but I have plenty of space to get my hands in and connect/disconnect quick disconnects. Maybe if you raise the hood you can get a little more room. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Great idea! Naaaah... I better not. I'm afraid I'd be tempted to not put it back on. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I don't get it. I have a 16LA on my TC35D and I can check all the hose connections without any clearance problems. Us the TC40 that much tighter a fit for the loader?

It is much easier to check the quick connects on the TC-40 by dropping the FEL and backing away from it. The clearance is pretty tight against the side of the cowling. Never had one act up yet but I am glad that I learned about the problem and the cure before that time.
