TSO, I'll bet that if you could have stood the chunk of concrete upright, the tractor and loader wouldn't have struggled at all to lift it because all the weight would have been close to the pivot pins.
Also, one cubic yard of concrete weighs a little over 4,000lbs, so your hypothesis on one cubic foot weighing about 150lbs. is right on the money. By my calculations, that chunk weighed around 2,300lbs.
Can you explain how you're getting 2300? When I do the math, I get 1,992 lbs: 4x4= 16, x 0.83 (10 / 12) =13.28 cu/ft, x 150 lbs =1992.
