If you don't have a dribble or spurt at the connectors shown in Carey's photo, and do have pressure spurts if you loosen the lines at the injectors, then those high pressure lines are intact and they aren't the problem.

I still suspect bad fuel, if it is obvious that fuel is reaching the injectors.

Here's what I will do: I'll drain the tank and change the fuel filter, fill it with fresh fuel then report back.

If you can get it cranked again try this. After cranking, barely loosen 1 injector line at a time, if you loosen the good cylinder first it will likely die, if you loosen the bad cylinder first it will likely keep running with no change. This might tell you if bad fuel is the problem or whether one cylinder is missing because of pump, injector, stuck valve or whatever.

Careful when loosening an injector line as they are under high pressure. Loosened slowly and carefully should work fine.

Wear a heavy welder's glove or similar. Injecting diesel into your skin can be fatal, worst case.

She's fixed! After changing the fuel filter, fresh fuel, etc., no change. Running terribly, hard to start, black smoke. I figured she was running on one cylinder, so I cracked the line at the injector of the first cylinder towards the front of the motor, and she cleared up and ran better. I tightened it back up and she started smoking and running poorly again. I cracked the 2nd line closer to the seat and she started to die. So, I went back to the "fuel block" area, for lack of a better term, where I had that sort of loose feeling, and I carefully cranked that down. She started clearing up and, voila! Not sure what happened there, but she was sucking air or something. Now she's back to running like a champ.

Alrighty, good to hear.

That "fuel block" is your injection pump.. the "delivery valve holders" [top nuts] are supposed to be torqued to 30-35 ftlbs..
There is an oring on the holder and they seal w/ a crush, copper gasket on the bottom..
The reason it was running poorly was, the pressure that was supposed to be going to the injectors was leaking internally and once you tighten the holders, things went back to normal..
I hope this explains things a little better.. Happy tractoring..
