Hello Folk's, I've spent a couple hrs looking for answer here and after looking at both manual's, my 1710 has the Hydraulic Control Valve under the front edge of seat and there is a AUXILIARY Service Port with a plug in it, and It seem's like I could--take out plug and install a HYD GAUGE right there ????????
1. Am I correct or not ?????
2. If I'am correct I can't find anywhere what size plug (nut) that is screwed into the auxiliary port, if correct would like to get gauge that fit's or gauge with right adapter to fit
3. if done this way any problem just unscrewing aux port plug and installing gauge ????

Thanks Guy's

I don't have a 1710 but on my other Fords over the years that little port you are talking about is where you bleed the pump and/or attach a pressure gauge for troubleshooting. It's a ⅛" NPT or something of the sort with a Hex Allen socket hole in it. I have a 0-5000 oil filled gauge I use; the oil filling to dampen any pulsations that may come from the pump. Not sure the fill is necessary but that's what I bought anyway.

Thank's Mark, the port I'm talking about is for sure bigger plug than 1/8" more like 1/4", it's to plumb a aux line out (prob good for testing)-but it's not for bleeding pump there is no bleeding needed on a 1710, I'm wondering if it's a bad idea to mount a permenant gauge there as they all seem pretty cheap about 10-12 buck's and I'd hate to be working unit and have gauge come apart or start leaking under that much pressure..Thank's Again

Most loader valves have two P (pressure) ports, one will be plugged. You could use it and make it visible from the seat.

That is what I did on my TORO+Loader.

Why do you want a pressure gauge installed permanently?

Usual use is to check relief valve setting and remove.

The fluid fill is to deal with pulsating pressure. It is not intended to deal with vibrating and bouncing tractor.

Use it like you suggest and it may turn into a nozzle jetting a stream of dangerous high pressure fluid.

If you really have to have it, then buy a gauge from

OMEGA Engineering | Thermocouples, Pressure Transducers, Flow Meters, PID Controllers

Call and talk to one of their techs about where you are going to use it. Sit down when he tells you the price. He may suggest a pressure transducer and electronic gauge.

If you want to go the super cheap route accepting the dangers, have the gauge on a long hose which you secure somewhere in your line of sight. Buy a gauge with a mounting flange and not one just balanced on the inlet pipe.

Make a plexiglass screen over it to deflect any leaks.

To know that everything is working right in the hydraulic system. Read the Hydraulic Forum, when someone posts a problem, one of the first replies is "get a gauge and check the pressure".

This gauge has been installed for 11 years and it was used when I bought it. I can see it from the seat.
