I recently pulled the backhoe off my 1715 and have been doing some bucket work ... I noticed on my freshly graveled drive that while making sharp turns I'm getting some spin on the inside rear wheel. I'm usually in 4WD all the time.

Question is ... is this normal behavior? I would have thought the diff free wheels pretty easy .... does being in 4WD effect this?

Diff lock is disengaged and seems to be working fine.

I probably never noticed this before because I had a 2000 lb backhoe hanging on the rear.

I'll try it today in 2WD and see if it's any different.

Normal with no weight on the rear end and a loader. When turning the weight shifts to the outside, and the inside tire could spin.

Thank you ... after a bit more usage I discovered somewhat dramatically that yes, there is very little weight on the rear. Today's project consisted of welding up a weight box for the 3-point :)

I welded up this ballast race for the 3-point ... tractor behaves much nicer with it installed.

Is it ok to leave something like this hanging from the 3-point all the time? Or should I chain it up to take pressure off the hydraulics?

That's not that heavy. I would look around for wheel weights. I say it better to have the weight on the wheels than the tractor. Plus it leaves your 3 pt open.

Backhoe will go back on this spring, I just needed a few hundred pounds on the back so I can use the bucket .... didn't figure it would mind a few hundred since it usually is carrying a 1500 lb full frame backhoe, for the last 15 years.
Don't really want to spend all the money for weights since it will normally have the back hoe installed. Has fluid filled tires already.

Is is ok to leave this hanging on the hydraulics?

The hydraulics won't care one bit. They may leak down to the lowest point when your tractor is shut off so don't back in over something that could be damaged when it lowers.
