My 1720 has started to leak down on the rear hitch which I understand is the seal on the piston most times. When it does raise it back up when its running it squeals or screeches for a second when it pops it back up. Can anyone help me find the cause of the squealing. The hitch is not weak by any means and does not go into bypass even when picking things way to heavy. I want to open it up and fix what ever is causing the hitch to leak down, hopefully just the piston seal just cant figure out the noise.
if anyone had any pics of that area inside would be very helpful too

Does your tractor have power steering? Reason I ask is my 2002d does and I get a squeal at my flow diverter block when rpms are low and I raise the lift. I don't know just what your lift looks like but I posted a thread awhile back on repairing mine and clemsonfor posted one on repairing his 2000. You can click on either of our names and go to "started threads" to view them.

Winston, No I dont have power steering and thanks for the reference.
Carey, My setup looks quite a bit different than that. Ill have to get a picture. I cant even explain it, ill just have to take a pic.
It seems to be predominant when rpms are low too if that helps

My lift is very similar to yours winston, can you tell me what the second lever does next to the main lift lever? I can't seem to figure any difference when playing with it at different positions.
Your pics are a big help thank you!

The second lever is the draft control lever that was used with a tiller in the rice fields. A cable hooked to the lever you see in this picture and went to the tiller. If you manually move that lever on your tractor you will see the lift move. not really much use for us. One of our members mickey_fx is about the only one I know of that has his fx24d completely hooked up with draft control and tilt control. His is a little different than ours but works the same. Here is his thread on it if you are interested. http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/yanmar/105695-auto-tiller-controls.html
