I just bought a 1720, & had the dealer install a set of rear hyd outlets. He mentioned they are smaller than regular size, I got a 'free' set of male adaptors with it.

Huh? The rest of my Fords have the old Ford style, almost Pioneer standard, but with the point on the male connectors, and other tractors have standard Pioneers. I'm figuring on replacing or adapting to a regular size, but why isn't it regular to begin with? I don't need yet a _3rd_ standard size around here.

Too cold to really even look at it tho this week!

Paul: Congratulations on your "new" tractor.

If you only use the rear remotes to power a hydraulic toplink, or perhaps a log splitter, it shouldn't make too much difference. You probably won't want to be plugging those into a different hydraulic hose, anyway. Are the male adapters intended to adapt to "standard" sized connectors, or just to go on the end of the hose to the attachment? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I actually farm for a living. My impliments need to be interchangable. When I get a hyd toplink, it will be used on at least 3 of my 6 tractors, probably 4. Log splitter can be used with any of 3 tractors. The 'little' 1720 will be very handy for moving implements around that are parked in my way, need to be repaired, etc.. But, it will need to attach to the various implement hyds & lift them for moving. It makes a very big difference that this is yet a 3rd hyd quick-couple port. What I got were 2 male screw on ends for a set of hoses. I currently see using 7 different implements on this place, not counting some new toys I'm thinking about - plus runnig my augers with the pto, & use hyds to run an orbit sweep. Non-standard size _is_ a big deal to me, as I interchange tasks & tractors regularly! Was surprised that it is not a standard Pioneer - Have to add another $100 to the $600 I spent for the option to make it useable.

Yea, I know, I'm being picky. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif Great little tractor - starts at 9 degrees & power for my 7' snowblower - I'm impressed, only complaint is the 1 option I added is different than I expected. Done venting now. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

OK - Now it makes sense. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif Helps when I have more information. Guess my frame of reference was us folks that feel lucky to have one tractor. I can sure see your point about having the implements and hookups standardized so you can use them on several different tractors.

Seems like the dealer would be willing to change them out if you had explained your problem to him. He may not have been thinking about you having several tractors that use interchangeable implements.

He does want your repeat business, doesn't he? If nothing else, he may trade them at no cost if you remove the old ones and install the new ones. I know my dealer would.

Good luck.
