I have a NH 1725 that uses a knob to kill engine by shutting fuel off. A cable goes down to a lever going into the engine block. Anybody add a key activated solenoid on the fuel line or is there another way to shut engine off with key switch instead of having to pull the knob?

It seems archaic to a have to pull a lever to shut engine off and then turn key to shut electrics off. At least now I'm in the habit of pushing it back in after it dies.

My nh has electric key shutoff.. there is a solenoid mounted right on the side of the injector pump.. is this where your knob/linkage goes to? ( injector pump)? If so maybee you can retro a solenoid mount onto the pump.

I would try that route rather than a simple shutoff inline with the pump.. I wouldn't think the pump would like the starvation, especially considering NH had it setup a different way.. etc.

Are you sure this is supposed to be? My 1710 and 2120 both have those fuel shut off knobs but they are only for emergency use if the engine won't shut off when the key is turned off. I know the 1725 is an economy version but I have never been on a small Ford or New Holland where you need to use the fuel shutoff to stop the engne. Perhaps something is "broken". I would ask my dealer.

It's probably normal. My 2120 is as yours Andy, but with my older 1300 you have to pull the throttle lever all the way off to turn off the tractor. Turning the key off does not shut it off and I checked with the dealer that this is normal.

Check out the cost of solenoids. They may be expensive.

Because that fuel shutof cable is angled upwards where it comes through the cowl, it is prone to taking on moisture and failing. NH came out with a kit to convert your tractor to electric shutoff in 2000. Ask your dealer about service bulletin 1/2000 T-12. It lists a wiring kit and separate solenoid and has detailed installation instructions. List prices for the kit and solenoid total less than $75.

Thanks for the replies. I'll get ahold of my dealer and see about a retro kit.

There is a service bulletin on the subject (1-00-T12). You will need the following parts:

86400261 - electronic fuel shutoff kit
SBA185206083 - solenoid
