Looking for a little help in my 1st tractor purchase. I have about 350 acres of which roughly 60 is fields. I mainly want the tractor to put food plots in for about 20 acres eventually, with the remainder I plan on cutting with a brush hog. As for the implements I expect to be using are disc, tiller, brush hog, forks, grapple, and post hole digger on the machine. So here is what I致e narrowed it down to so but I am open for any input or suggestions anyone has.

1) Massey Ferguson 1760m with loader. This is a Power shuttle with a standard cab, AC/Heat, Radio, 1 set of rear remotes, Loaded Tires R1 or R4 my choice and loaded. The dealer is also going to run 3rd function so I can run the grapple. The machine as no regen and no dpf which I think is a plus. As for dealer support he has a good reputation as a friend of mine has purchased a 1750m from them that he loves. As for the price he is at 39,500 cash price, or I could go with the Hydrostat with the deluxe cab for 41,900 cash price. (Thoughts on that pricing)

I'm deciding between this tractor and the Mahindra 6065 which is a bigger heavier tractor but I dont know much about the quality of mahindra and I heard the resale value is not great. Any input on the 1760m or any other tractor I should consider for that price would be greatly appreciated.

I tried getting info too on the Massey, as well as Mahindra, but I ended up with John Deere due to resale. Do I love my 4066r? Not really. Smallish cab, DPF and re-gen are my main issues. I've actually thought about approaching the dealer and asking if he wants to buy my tractor back as it's only got 55 hours on it, then buy a 1760m because it's cheaper honestly.

I think Mahindra has gotten a bad rap online, at least that's what I seem to read. Or maybe they are decent but only get reviews from the haters. In my area, there's a new Mahindra dealer about 15 minutes from me, but he's only been selling them for maybe 7 months. The other place that was selling them, A Bobcat dealership, sold them for MAYBE two years, then they dumped them. Makes me a little nervous to buy one.

I know that's the issue I have been having is finding reviews on the 1760m from someone that has one. As for Mahindra I have a neighbor that has one and he loves it, and the dealership that has been selling them has been for years and its the only tractor he sells. I think the Mahindra 6065 is a much bigger machine and I think im getting more for my money with it but the resale value does scare me. I also looked at the 4066r and came away with the same impressions and it was alot more money for less tractor features wise in my opinion then both the Massey and Mahindra. Still torn though.

My opinion on my test drive in the 1760m, it was a solid feeling tractor. Liked the fold out rear side windows. Like, A LOT! Cab feels more roomy than my 4066r. Standard halogen lighting on my 4066r sucks, seems like the LED lights are brighter in the Massey, at least from the few I've seen online. Massey has a toolbox, none on John Deere.

However, I really like my 3rd function 2 position switch on my 4066r. The Massey I believe only has a diverter switch, which is a single button. And I'm not real keen on the hanging pedals, wondering if they will be as comfy during a long tractor session. Lastly, there is no way to turn off the auto throttle on the Massey, nor the anti stall feature. When I've been using mine in close quarters, like hooking up my bucket, I will turn my auto throttle off so it doesn't jump ahead too far as the engine revs up.

Honestly, out of all the tractors i drove, the Massey was a great bargain, felt closest to the Deere in quality. Mahindra to me felt like all the other Korean tractors, New Holland, Kioti, Mcormick, Case IH, as far as finish and fit. Just.... OK. Not really a premium feel. Seat is nice in the Mahindra though, i don't think it had air ride. Can't recall.

One key reason i went with my 4066r, i read too many posts complaining about the Massey having weak hydraulics, they wouldn't pull up hills in C range, loader would stall out with a load that you would THINK it should lift. Made me gun shy...

For 350 acres step up to a MF4707. The 1760M is great tracotr but its still a compact tractor. the 4707 is all around a much heavier tractor and has the same creature comforts. My 2 cents.

I ll the have two mahindras and love both of them. But i agree with others here to go bigger if you can . We also have 360 acres and do all the things you listed. I find that having several tractors works much better, A smaller one for doing trails in the woods and the larger one for field work. saves lots of time not always switching implements. Ls and tym and kioti might also be considered.

I have the 1750M and so far I have no complaints. I almost went with the JD 4 series but I liked the Massey cab better. I added the 3 function and a 2nd rear remote. I was skeptical of the 3rd function diverter but after using it I like it. Controlling the grapple has become second nature

I kept going back and forth with the tranny. I ended up with the HST but I really liked the shuttle shift. At first I thought I made a mistake but after using it to clear my woods I’m happy with the HST

I plan on using mine in the woods and I wouldn't go any bigger on my property but in your case I would seriously consider the 4707

What's your experience on the transmission? Does it require you to be in low range to push into a load with the bucket or will it do the job and maybe even spin the tires in B range? How about road driving? The 1760m i drove seemed pretty fast on the flat but there were no hills to test out how the hydro does holding speed. A few people I've seen videos on said the Massey slowed down and required B range on a steep hill or if pulling a load behind.

Those were my fears about buying a new one with limited reviews out there.

I havent had the bucket on it since I bought it. It will be 100% grapple at least until I finish clearing

I will try working it hard in mid range tomorrow and post the results

Any updates on your weekend of heavy usage? Just curious...

I have the 2706E (same engine and trans). I only have 7 hours on it, but so far I haven't had any trouble with the hill. I don't use High range except for road travel, as the mid range is fast enough that I tend to bounce a bit on my land. Flail mowed tall grass uphill in mid range without trouble. High range takes a bit to get to speed if you just step on the forward full pressure off the bat. Most people get confused by Hydrostatic and treat it like a throttle in a car. If you start to load down you need to ease up and let the engine catch up. Only hold it down far enough until the engine starts to work then keep it there. Ease into the motion and you'll be happier with it. Also run at PTO speed when you are going to do any work and the tractor will be happier.

Shibaura makes the engines for the 2700E series and the new 1700M series. NH used Shibaura in their skidsteers for quite a while (not sure if they still do). I've had very good luck with my Shibaura powered NH skidsteers. I also like the lack of DPF, DEF, and regen. That is the main reason I went with the 2706E over the 1758. Price and availability also had something to do with it, but the emissions was the biggest factor. I wanted hydro without a cab so the 1760M was out of the picture.

I was in the same boat as you and ended up going with the 4707 and very happy with it. Here is a thread with some good info incase you have not found it yet. It has pricing info. You could try the dealer I got mine from and see if they can find a leftover 2018 to get the best price but it took awhile to find mine. If you do find a leftover it is not much of a price difference be the 1760m and the 4707 for twice the tractor.

Massey 1760M or 4707 or ? = Stuck newbie

I can’t spin the tires in mid range

Now that it's been a few months, what's your transmission doing when you use the loader? Is it stalling the tires at any engine rpm? Does it pull the engine down a little bit or does it just stop the tires when pushing into a pile of dirt?

I would love to see a video of the tractor from the seat at highway speeds to see how quiet it is and how it pulls along on road inclines if you have any.

I only have the 1735M but in mid range digging hard into a dirt pile I have stalled the engine. I just had to get used to it and make sure I am in snail mode. Kind of weird though because I can be in high range on my little Kubota bx25 and it will never stall on me.

First post here, but long time reader. I just bought a 1740M was also looking at the kioti DK42se. The pricing and built quality made me choose the Massey.

Coming from a bigger gear tractor i'll have to adjust to the hst transmission. Just like MaineGuy I can definately stall the engine when going to a pile in Mid range but had times the tires were slipping too. Not so bad if you are lifting "with" the pile instead of pushing it in. Forget high range for any kind of hard works or steep hill. I will try to let the engine catch up like TheFarmerInAdell says. BTW anyone have a stiff range selector lever ?

I have no issues with the tractor in low while using the loader. If I dig in too much the tires just spin. No change in rpm

I have plowed over trees and dug up small stumps while in low and the tractor moves fast enough that I dont see it as a problem. Mid range is too fast for my terrain

I also have no problem in low, it is mid range and high that sucks my power.

Yes, My range selector was a little stiff, seems better now. Dealer told me it is because the gear teeth are square.
