Tractor
2006 Kubota L3830
I've been searching the forum for the last day or so, as well as a few other places, I was quoted $18,500 with ag tires and FST transmission, I was expecting something a bit less since I was told that I could expect to save $2,500-3,500 on a harvest rental return.

Also, salesman said that the larger loader was too big for the tractor, said it made the tail too light  but reading here I never see that complaint, do you guys with the bigger loader need to keep weight on the 3pt hitch?

Edit, I'm in the North SF bay area

That must be North Bay Equipment.

First let me say the 513 is the SMALLER of 2 loaders Kubota sells
for that machine. The 3130 easily handles both. That said, ANY
compact tractor with a loader needs rear ballast for stability.
The easiest way to get that is always keep your box blade (the
first implement you should get) mounted on the 3-pt.

Finally, the harvest rental returns available in our area usually
are sold by the dealers for only a few hundred $ less than new.
They come with no loader as they are used primarily by wineries
to pull trailers around.

Make sure you are happy with the FST before you choose that over
the GST or HST. My $.02.

That price, $18,500, is essentially MSRP for that tractor/loader. Any salesman who says what that one did to you is only trying to sell a tractor and is not looking out for what is best for the customer. Tell them thanks, but no thanks. You should be able to do much better elsewhere with a new tractor and the much better LA723 loader.

Good news for me then :D bad for them... not unexpected though, I just walked in and looked, only buying new for the 3 year 0% offer, was origionally looking used!

BTW, Lampson in St Hellena. I'm sure someone wants to sell me a tractor :)

Oh yeah, I specifically stated that I was looking for gear drive, I might try the others out, but I don't like automatics in my trucks, and use a friends hydrostatic lawn tractor as well as my fathers 8N with a 4 speed, I don't even think about shifting any more, usually can't even remember doing it 3 seconds later.

I priced a L3130 HST with the LA723 & the heavy duty bucket today with R4 tires.
Out the door delivered $19,200.00 in Pennsylvania.
I hope this helps.

Just found an advertised price $150 less in a nearby town...for a new tractor, not shopworn...and it comes with 3 more HP :p since it is an L3430, I decided those 3 hp may be needed given the 200 foot elevation difference in this property, but I don't want the wider stance of the L3830, 60" is plenty wide.
