Does anybody know about how much liquid a 18-8.5-8 lawn tractor tire will hold? I have searched the forum and other resources and can't find the answer. The rimguard chart doesn't have that size. Thanks.
Found the formula for the volume of a torus (think inner tube) which should get me close. I came up with approximately 2.5 gallons at 75% fill for a 18-8.5-8. If anyone else has a tire that you can't find on a volume chart you can use the link below to get cubic inches then divide by 231 to get gallon(s) (US). Then multiply by 0.75 for a 75% fill. I have a small Craftsman lawn tractor that doesn't get quite enough traction to pull my small wagon to haul firewood from the pile to the house. Some additional weight may still be necessary.
Fill a muck bucket to the top with water. Put your tire and wheel all the way in. Capture the water spilled into another bucket. Pour that into a gallon milk jug until full. Count the number of times you could fill a 1 gallon jug. Add the fraction of the remaining water to the count.
But leave some air in the tire when you fill it. The buggy will ride like the tires are made of cement.
Try this link. It lists a lot of tires. I just finished filling my tires (36x14-15 R3) with 25 gallons each of windshield wiper fluid. It's supposed to be good to -20. I added a gallon of straight methanol to each tire to lower the temp a bit more.
